SharePoint delivered significant benefits to TRY Australia including major performance enhancements, simplified user interfaces, and optimised use on mobile devices.
Since 1883 TRY Australia have been creating opportunities for young people to change their lives through the dignity of work. Today, they are a social purpose organisation. TRY Australia delivers access to early learning, mentoring for the vulnerable and those at-risk and training and employment opportunities for those wanting to try, but have not had the chance.
What solutions were you using prior to engaging with us?
Our previous intranet’s look and feel was quite old and outdated. The platform was originally built and deployed via Drupal.
What challenges and objectives led you to look for a new solution? How did these challenges manifest themselves into pain points?
Our old environment presented many different versions of documents and the users were unsure which documents were up to date and available to use. The search functionality would also bring up different documents at once and confuse the user.
What was most important to you when evaluating your options?
As a not-for-profit organisation, the cost was something that we had to take into account when making our decision. Plus, better platform functionalities and quality level of support were the main factors that led us to choose FiveP.
What were your time frame expectations for this project and how did FiveP help meet them?
I had a clear time frame in mind about when the new platform should have been deployed and FiveP managed to get the job done well before our implementation expectations by providing tailored training and support following the migration from the old to the new solution.
What were the most challenging aspects of the project?
Midway through the project, FiveP and TRY Australia decided to rebuild the intranet using the newly released Modern rather than Classic User Interface for SharePoint. This delivered significant benefits including major performance enhancements, simplified user interfaces and optimised use on mobile devices. One of the challenges was coordinating all the ‘Team Champions’ from across the organisation who needed to fit their work on the intranet project around their day jobs.
How was the solution adopted by different types of users?
TRY’s employees have noticed that the new intranet has a much more contemporary look with added custom features. The addition of the ‘Staff Benefits’ page has also improved the engagement with the platform.
What are the benefits that you are experiencing?
- Increased use of the intranet
- Increased staff satisfaction
- Increased staff engagement
